Don't Suspend 12-Year-Old Black Child for "Staring" at a White Girl!

A 12-year-old black student at St. Gabriel Consolidated School in Ohio was suspended for staring at a white girl. The girl said the boy intimidated her, while he believes they were having a staring contest, and says she was laughing the whole time.

The boy wrote an apology letter to the girl saying he meant no harm. According to the boy's mother, the girl has a history of aggressive behavior at the school, citing an incident where she poured milk on another student's lunch. The girl never received any punishment for her actions.

Suspending a student for one staring incident is harsh and could adversely affect the rest of his school career. Please sign the petition to urge the school to overturn the suspension and expunge the incident from the student's record.

We, the undersigned are concerned that a 12-year-old black student at St. Gabriel Consolidated School in Ohio was suspended for staring at a white girl. Although the girl said the boy intimidated her, while he believes they were having a staring contest, and says she was laughing the whole time.

As you know, the boy wrote an apology letter to the girl saying he meant no harm. According to the boy's mother, the girl has a history of aggressive behavior at the school, citing an incident where she poured milk on another student's lunch. The girl never received any punishment for her actions.

We understand that there are two conflicting sides to this story, and that it is inappropriate for someone to stare at another person if it's not consentual. Still, we believe that suspending a student for one staring incident is harsh and could adversely affect the rest of his school career. We believe that it's more appropriate to talk to the child about how staring can be rude and intimidating. We respectfully urge you to overturn the suspension and expunge the incident from the student's record. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
